About the Department:
SMU's Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering, founded in 1925, is one of the oldest engineering schools in the Southwest. The school offers eight undergraduate and 29 graduate programs, including master's and doctoral degrees, through the departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical and Computer Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Operations Research and Engineering Management. Lyle students participate in programs in the unique Deason Innovation Gym, providing the tools and space to work on immersion design projects and competitions to accelerate leadership development and the framework for innovation; the Hart Center for Engineering Leadership, helping students develop nontechnical skills to prepare them for leadership in diverse technical fields; the Caruth Institute for Engineering Education, developing new methodologies for incorporating engineering education into K-12 schools; and the Hunter and Stephanie Hunt Institute for Engineering and Humanity, combining technological innovation with business expertise to address global poverty.
About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This position is responsible for generating revenue through the development of prospective student contact lists, outbound cold calling, follow-up with applicants to encourage enrollment in programs, and ensuring applicants who apply move forward in the process to matriculation. Based on a review of data, goals of the university and the Dean of Lyle School of Engineering, this position is required to build and carry out recruitment plans that address and meet the stated goals. Will serve as a liaison with faculty/staff in areas of student recruitment, assisting them in addressing and meeting their recruitment goals and needs. Maintains clear, concise recruitment data and completes recruitment reports outlining efforts and results regularly for review by the Associate Director, Assistant Dean - Recruitment and the Dean of the Lyle School of Engineering. Focus on graduate recruitment efforts but cross-train to assist with undergraduate efforts as well. Plan and implement recruitment and yield events for graduate recruitment.
Essential Functions:

Organize, and hold information sessions/webinar sessions to educate prospective students on the benefits of a Lyle education and recruit prospective students to apply to the Lyle School. Attend education fairs, and conferences
for targeted prospective students. Duties include cold calling and lead generation. Develop and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community colleges and other educational institutions. Assist in the strategic planning and execution of recruitment and marketing strategies to attract diverse applicant pools.

Serve as a point of contact for prospective students. Provide additional information to prospects in a personalized manner to ensure a smooth application process, leading to a complete application. Work closely with admitted prospective students to support their transition to enrollment in the Lyle School. Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all stages of the admissions process.

Work closely with academic departments to recruit students for all program modality offerings (on-campus, distance education and executive format programs. Stay up to date on university and departmental admission policies and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Provide training and support to staff on new policies and procedures. Represent Lyle School in admissions and recruitment organizations and participate and serve in various committees including but not limited to: AACRAO, TACRAO, NACAC, TACAC.

Monitor enrollment data. Data and metric tracking will include analysis, updating databases and tracking related to student recruitment. Produce regular status reports for review by upper supervisors. Position will participate in strategic planning to identify and target new audiences for prospective students. Collect and analyze data related to admissions such as application trends, demographic data and yield rates. Generate reports and provide recommendations to improve the admissions process and meet enrollment goals. Coordinate and oversee a recruitment calendar and schedule for staff under general supervision of Associate Director.

Assist with event planning such as specialized group visits, virtual admission events, open houses, information sessions, admitted student days, and orientation.

Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Occasional evening/weekend hours will be required.
- Travel to recruiting events will be required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree is required.
A minimum of two years of experience is required. Work experience in university admissions, recruiting and/or marketing is strongly desired. Direct sales experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication and presentation skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Candidates ability to make cold calls is essential.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and presentation applications software (i.e. PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.).
Candidate familiarity with CRM is strongly preferred.
