Job Summary
The Assistant to the Vice President of Human Resources provides high-level administrative support, coordination, and project assistance to ensure the efficient operation of the HR executive office. This role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, and plays a key role in supporting strategic HR initiatives, managing confidential information, and acting as a liaison between the VP of HR and internal/external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Provide executive-level administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Manage complex calendar scheduling, including meetings, travel arrangements, and event coordination. Act as a liaison between the VP of HR and AU departments, employees, and external contacts.
Monitor and manage department budgets, process invoices, and track expenses.
Assist in the management of HR projects and strategic initiatives, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met to include prepare, proofread, and format reports, presentations, correspondence, and other confidential documents.
Coordinate departmental meetings, including agenda preparation, minutes recording, and follow-up on action items.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
5 years of experience in executive administrative support, with demonstrated project management experience specific to coordination of projects of varying complexities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business or Public Administration or related field.
Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.
Experience with the University System of Georgia.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with HRIS systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Grade: B11
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
