About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Associate Director of BBA Admission plays a key role in advancing the Cox School of Business's undergraduate enrollment goals through strategic recruitment, personalized communication, and high-touch engagement with prospective students and key influencers. This position leads critical outreach initiatives, manages application review, and supports the success of signature programs like BBA Scholars and SMU Cox summer programs. By delivering operational excellence and fostering meaningful relationships across campus and beyond, the Associate Director enhances the visibility, reputation, and impact of SMU Cox's BBA program.

Essential Functions:

  • BBA Recruitment: Participate in strategic recruitment and retention of BBA Scholars and Business Direct students. Develop recruitment relationships with prospective students and high school counselors through campus visits and individual communication. This Associate Director will represent the program at remote (travel) recruiting events.

  • BBA Admission: Evaluate applications for first-year and external transfer applicants to the Cox BBA Program. This process includes reading applications, making initial decision recommendations, and participating in admission committee.

  • Program Management: In conjunction with the Director of BBA Admission, plan and execute SMU Cox summer program. The Associate Director will own schedule management, collaboration with campus partner presenters, and participant communication. Associate Director will also oversee hiring of Resident Assistants and recruitment of student applicants.

  • Communication: Work with Director on implementation of Cox communication continuum for prospective students. This includes programming, print, online, and in-person communication efforts.

  • Office Management: Support BBA Admission Office team in execution of Cox Ambassador Program, targeted student recruitment processes, and collaborative outreach with campus partners to maintain a high level of performance office-wide.

  • BBA Scholars Program: Support Director with programmatic operations of BBA Scholars Program to drive student engagement and retention.

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure operational excellence in daily responsibilities and actively contribute to preserving and enhancing the reputation and brand of the Cox School of Business by providing exceptional service to prospective students and families, supporting seamless event execution, maintaining accurate and timely communication, and collaborating effectively with campus partners.

  • Occasional evening/weekend hours will be required for Admission and Recruiting events.

  • Occasional travel will be required.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Business or Higher Education is preferred.

A minimum of three (3) years of experience is required. Previous experience working in Admission and/or Student Services is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Candidate familiarity with PeopleSoft is preferred.
