Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Advancement Talent Director is responsible for the strategic implementation of Advancement's mission and guiding principles on talent management. This position is a key contributor to enabling AUR's organizational performance and effectiveness and collaborates with the Senior Management Team to develop and implement programs and practices that drive a culture of accountability, excellence, continuous professional development, and improvement. This position also ensures a positive work environment by championing organizational core values. This position is responsible for the direct management and coordination of a position that is responsible for the full cycle recruiting process.

Essential Functions

Employee Engagement (40%)

  • Leads the development and implementation of new or enhancement to existing talent management programs: employee onboarding program, quarterly and all-day staff retreats, managers' forums, and other programs; establishes the talent strategy and talent goals for AUR, in alignment with business objectives.

  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of Operations, conducts employee job satisfaction surveys; considers new ways to boost employee retention with rewards and recognition; cultivates an environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion and promotes teamwork and mutual collaboration.

  • Communicates talent management policies and new initiatives, including ensuring that the promotion and title change guidelines are widely understood;

  • Maintains and updates the AUR website.




Learning and Development (25%)

  • Assesses the organization's professional development needs across all levels, along with leadership, determines and prioritizes mission-critical skills and competencies.

  • Empowers AUR staff to self-navigate their own successful career journeys through a combination of on-the-job opportunities, relationships with internal mentors at all levels, and through on-demand and curated digital learning offerings; creates a system to track and aggregate employee training and shares data on learning participation with leadership.

  • Delivers presentations and training as needed.




Workforce Planning & Strategy (15%)

  • Conducts the talent review process; advances a consistent process for succession planning, including identifying successors for critical roles and collaborating with managers to build customized development plans.

  • Manages one direct report.




Performance Management (10%)

  • Enhances performance management for personal and professional growth.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.



Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.

  • A minimum of five years experience developing and supporting organization-wide talent management programs in higher education, preferably in a large and complex advancement operation.




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to impact, influence, and drive action and accountability in others.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and counseling skills; ability to work effectively as a team member in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; previous experience using data analytics to measure outcomes, gain insights, and make informed decisions with a leadership team.

  • Must be self-motivated and proactive in taking ownership of projects and driving results; demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities concurrently with a high level of detail.

  • Exemplary professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to confidentiality.

  • Proficiency with recruitment software and applicant tracking systems, as well as Microsoft Office and Google platforms, and be able to quickly learn new technology.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.




Minimum Starting Salary: $95,000



Maximum Starting Salary: $105,000



Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
