Position Summary

Reporting to the Advancement Talent Director, the Advancement Talent Specialist manages the entire recruiting cycle for Advancement. This position is responsible for sourcing, attracting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding employees. This position promotes the Fordham brand through recruitment initiatives and events. This position actively works toward building a diverse and qualified team to support organizational short and long-term goals, including retention strategies. The successful candidate should be able to develop and implement innovative recruiting strategies as well as nurture trusting relationships with potential hires. This position also helps to cultivate an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.



Essential Functions

Recruitment (40%)

  • Leads the talent acquisition and retention process in Advancement for full-time, part-time, temporary, and contractual personnel.

  • Oversees the Advancement hiring process through the Applicant Tracking System; maintains records of recruitment materials; drives the best-in-class experience for candidates.

  • Compiles interview questions and conducts preliminary interviews with candidates to gauge interest, skills, experience, culture fit, and salary requirements.




Workforce Planning and Strategy (25%)

  • Works closely with leadership to formulate and implement talent acquisition strategies.

  • Meets with managers across AUR to understand short and long-term hiring needs with a focus on recruiting diverse talent; maintains a comprehensive understanding of HR policies and provides guidance on the overall recruitment process.

  • Collaborates with the team to review key roles and determine the readiness levels of potential internal and external candidates to fill these roles.




Talent Pipeline Development/Employer Branding (15%)

  • Networks with potential candidates on social media platforms and at events; effectively articulates the employee value proposition to external and internal candidates.

  • Fosters long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates to build a strong talent pipeline for AUR's future hiring needs.




Employee Engagement and Development (10%)

  • In partnership with the team, develops and maintains a robust onboarding program to introduce new hires to Fordham's history, mission, and culture and ensure that they have the tools necessary to be successful.

  • With guidance from the supervisor, provides support in the areas of employee engagement and development.




Process Improvement (10%)

  • Routinely monitors and analyzes recruiting data to identify trends and/or opportunities to improve hiring capability and results; evaluates the effectiveness of the sourcing strategy used to deliver results; develops and implements creative and innovative sourcing strategies for active and passive candidates.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration or related field.

  • Minimum of three years experience in a similar role in higher education, preferably in a large and complex advancement operation.




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have a keen understanding of the difference between various roles within an organization.

  • Experience successfully developing and executing innovative recruitment strategies, including using creative sourcing methods to tap into diverse and passive applicant pools.

  • Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills: demonstrated ability to leverage data within applicant tracking systems and develop strategies to drive outcome metrics.

  • Proficiency with social media platforms, Microsoft Office, and Google platforms; ability to quickly learn new technology.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills: experience working with a diverse team and ability to work cooperatively and effectively with management to develop hiring strategies and position profiles.

  • Must be self-motivated and proactive in taking ownership of projects and driving results; demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities concurrently with a high level of detail.

  • Exemplary professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to confidentiality.

  • Interest in fundraising, higher education, and Jesuit/Catholic mission.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.




Minimum Starting Salary: $75,000



Maximum Starting Salary: $85,000



Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
