Employee Services provides the CU community with excellent services from recruitment to retirement. This office provides technical expertise while administering benefits, professional development, payroll, individual tax management, and strategic HR programs. The functional areas of Employee Services include Payroll, Technologies, Benefits, Retirement, Financial Education, Learning and Development, International Tax and Human Resources.

Position Summary:

The Senior Talent Development Specialist is responsible for duties within the areas of talent and leadership development, including projects and initiatives for the University of Colorado (CU) System Administration office. This position also helps plan and implement a nomination-based program for university-wide leaders called the Excellence in Leadership Program (ELP). ELP is a highly visible program that supports leaders in their professional and leadership development and introduces them to senior leadership and the CU system. This position supports the Culture, Talent, and Leadership Development Team and the Program Director in planning and implementing programs for CU System employees to further promote and work towards CU's People and Culture Vision, including supervisor and employee development programs.

This position reports to the Talent, Culture, and Leadership Development Program Director and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Where You Will Work:

This role will work a hybrid schedule, working 4-5 days per month on-site mostly depending on the needs of ELP. Travel to campuses is required for ELP.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Talent Development Program Management
  • Plan, coordinate, and carry out large, small, and virtual Learning and Development events and resources for the Excellence in Leadership Program (ELP), multiple monthly meetings with 60+ attendees.
  • Reconcile and collect reporting for ELP budgets.
  • Plan and coordinate Excellence in Leadership Liaisons meeting with all campus representatives, which includes forming relationships and agenda planning for collaboration and consensus building.
  • In coordination with Program Director, build and facilitate new programming for ELP Alumni quarterly identifying event goals, audiences, and alignment with strategic plan goals.
  • Facilitate and coordinate training event efforts, effectively collect, and review post event evaluations, and make recommendations for program/event enhancements.
  • Support and respond to ELP partners including executive leaders and their staff.
  • Coordinate ELP Award including all campuses executive level committee, nominations, voting, website and communications processes and public presentation of award annually.
  • Coordinate ELP annual nominations process of 45 new cohort members annually, which includes direct involvement with the nominations for System Administration.
  • Coordinate ELP Lecture and Luncheon annual celebration at a strategic and celebratory location (i.e. the Brown Palace) for 150+ executive-level leaders including keynote speaker selection, communications plan, registration, staffing, catering, coordination with President's office, TIAA sponsorship, and all events logistics.
  • Create social media content for ELP Alumni LinkedIn group including defining, evaluating, and reporting on success metrics for group.
  • Collaborate with Communications team to develop and maintain a dynamic ELP website.

Event Management
  • Runs training and leadership events logistics including, but not limited to
    • Event planning including venue selections, food, and supply preparation
    • Creation of consistent materials to flow through events and support adult learning
    • Setting up venues for meetings, events, and workshops.
    • Catering coordination
    • Scheduling events and calendaring that considers multiple constituents
    • Survey design and feedback follow up with participants, speakers, and leadership
    • After action reviews of events to gather input for improvements and future planning

Training and People Development
  • Collaborate with System HR team and CU leaders to support the design of people development programs at CU System Administration
  • Research, create, and design training using adult learning methods and standard processes based on needs identified by System HR team
  • Work with program director to create in-person and virtual training, collateral, and resources as needed and regularly source and develop content based on learning needs of system employees.
  • Partner with the L & D team to create LinkedIn Learning collections for System employees making recommendations that align with learning needs
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement leadership and manager program at CU System with coaching components working in collaboration with other L&D team members

Student Assistant Supervision
  • Supervise Student Assistant position including day-to-day tasks and activities with support from Program Director for complex problems or situations needing elevation

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $67,000 - $72,000.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Please ensure your resume includes any and all relevant experience to be accurately assessed against these qualifications. You must meet all minimum requirements listed at the time of application to be considered for this role.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • Three (3) years of related experience, including:
    • Event and project management including using central project management tools
    • Training and development, or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Five (5) years' professional experience, as indicated above
  • Experience working within higher education
  • Experience working with website design
  • Experience supporting organization wide learning and development projects for a medium to large employer
  • Experience using project management tools such as TeamDynamix
