Job Description
The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is looking for vibrant,
dynamic individuals interested in working in a team environment dedicated to student enrollment and
success. This is a new position, which is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff role that
provides an exciting opportunity to be a part of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Position:

As a member of the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) Advising Services staff, the College
Recruiter will serve the College's departments and interdisciplinary programs in identifying, recruiting, and
enrolling top quality candidates from local and regional schools.


Responsibilities
Comprehensive job responsibilities:
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of recruitment trends, as well as the latest strategies and tools of the
    trade needed to effectively reach target audiences,
  • Excel in communicating with diverse populations, representing the University and College in a
    manner that reflects its missions and strategic plan,
  • Work with prospective students throughout all aspects of the decision-making process and use
    effective interpersonal skills to ensure that the student is confident about their decision regardless
    of outcome for the University,
  • Create and conduct specialized and personalized on-campus and virtual experiences for
    prospective students and their families,
  • Collaborate with other CAS recruiters and Director to develop and execute an outreach plan to
    communicate with potential students.


Further specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and manage participation for, and at times travel to, in-state and out-of-state recruitment
    events for the College,
  • Conduct initial academic advising appointments for prospective first year and transfer students,
  • Assist with CAS in-person new student orientation sessions,
  • Develop strategic recruitment plans that include efficient travel and maximum exposure to
    potential undergraduate candidates,
  • Determine needs and manage creating of message content for prospective student marketing
    materials, presentations, and electronic messaging to inform and engage prospective students
    and families,
  • Create and foster partnerships with high school counselors, alumni, community college partners,
    and the community
  • Assist the Recruitment Coordinator with coordinating ambassador tours and maintaining the CAS
    recruitment email

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills
  • Proficiency with technology that supports both students and professional practice, such as MS
    Word, Excel, Student Information Systems, Degree Audits, Internet/ online resources, etc.
  • Administrative and organizational skills with the ability to handle simultaneous projects
  • The ability to relate effectively to students and their families, faculty, support staff, and alumni
  • Ability to present complex information to groups of students, their families, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum one-year experience in a higher education setting with an emphasis on undergraduate
    student affairs
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years' experience in a higher education setting with an emphasis on undergraduate student
    affairs
  • Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations
  • Liberal arts background

Salary: $50,000
